An opportunity exists for an Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) to join out site at LAMP, Kuantan. She will be responsible for coordinating, promoting and ensuring a healthy working condition and will play a key role for the operation of the site clinic, hygiene and medical facilities.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide occupational health nursing services, including first aid, emergency medical response, treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, medical surveillance, health assessments, and return-to-work coordination.
- Lead workplace health promotion initiatives, wellness programmes, occupational health training, and preventive healthcare activities to foster a healthy and safe work environment.
- Monitor compliance with occupational health legislation, company standards, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining accurate medical records, injury statistics, and employee health confidentiality.
- Coordinate occupational health programmes, including medical examinations, health surveillance, emergency preparedness, incident investigations, and implementation of preventive and corrective actions.
- Liaise with Occupational Health Doctors (OHD), healthcare providers, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective occupational health management and medical support.
- Serve as a key member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), ensuring the readiness of medical facilities, equipment, and supplies while championing a strong health and Zero Harm culture across the organisation.
Requirements of the successful candidate:
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing with minimum 2-5 years’ experience in occupational health for manufacturing and heavy industries, hospital, or clinical settings.
- Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB) with a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC), with certification in Occupational Health (NIOSH Malaysia/DOSH).
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 1994/2022), occupational health regulations, medical surveillance, and workplace health management.
- Proven experience in managing workplace injuries, occupational illnesses, emergency response, health risk assessments, and medical records.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and respond effectively during medical emergencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high integrity, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality while working effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment, including after-hours or weekend support when required.
- Positive working attitude toward responsibility and task given.
- Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Additional language will be an advantage.
- Must be willing to work in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia.
